Today’s food production plants operate to strict product safety and hygiene requirements.

Magnetic equipment is installed at critical control points to ensure extraction of unwanted, dangerous and damaging ‘tramp’ iron that finds its way into processes. This can be as large and offensive as spanners, nuts and bolts—or as small and difficult to recover as iron filings.

These specialised, high strength Grate Magnets or Magnetic Traps are usually 10,000 Gauss (1 Tesla) minimum surface strength and are generally required to be checked and validated periodically (usually annually).

There are two options for this procedure: have someone visit with a calibrated Gauss-meter to carry out the tests and charge accordingly, OR, purchase a high quality, calibrated Gauss-meter to conduct your own checks and validations. Many are seeing the value of having their own Gauss-meter such as the MAGSYS Model HGM09s which is designed with such work in mind. Available only from Serpent & Dove—Applied Magnetics in Australia, operators are finding ownership of the MAGSYS Gauss-meter is by far the most economic method.
