IntraVis Vision Systems of Germany, a global supplier of video inspection equipment have released the CapWatcher III, the third generation model of the machine designed specifically to inspect innovative closures that are becoming more lightweight, translucent and have thin wall thicknesses and smaller tamper evident bands.
The CapWatcher III utilises six cameras with a total of 6 megapixels that capture razor-sharp high-resolution images of each individual closure looking for defects including short shots, colour deviations, damage to seal cone, tamper evident band and micro –holes at speeds of up to 210,000 closures per hour. The machine has been designed to handle ultra light-weight closures.
Four cameras are positioned to inspect the external elements of the closures such as short or long shots, spots on the wall, missing tamper evident bands, turned up flaps and closure height.
An internal colour camera inspects the diameter and ovality of the closures including colour deviations and linear inconsistencies and the final camera reads the cavity number enabling sorting by cavity. An optional camera is available for print registration inspection and a HV puncture test unit is available that detects micro-holes in the gate area with up to 26KV.
The system is controlled via a single IntraVis HMI and can also be used for offline quality control of closure batches in combination with bunker, sorter and octabin filler handling.
