Used robot marketplace launched online

Used robots are easy to find with the launch of a new site by robotics advisory service, Robotize.

Dedicated to robots and robotic equipment, went live in August with more than 40 advertisements.

The Robotize Marketplace is the latest addition to, Australia’s specialist robotics resources and news source. Robotize’s Wade Leslie said the Marketplace was developed after clients expressed frustration when they needed to buy or sell a robot.

“To source a second-hand robot, you were forced to keep scanning loads of auction sites and sift through everything from tractors to pallet trucks to find one or two machines,” he says.

“The Robotize Marketplace has dozens of robots – and only robots – in one place.”

The Robotize Marketplace features listings from Australian manufacturers who have surplus robots and from manufacturers like ABB, who are offering reconditioned units complete with guarantees.

Mr Leslie, whose Robotize consultancy service offers independent technical and purchasing advice for robotics users, says used robots can represent an entry point to automation for Australian manufacturers.

“Some smaller businesses simply don’t have the budget to invest in the newest technology right away,” he says.

“A second-hand robot gives them the chance to test the technology before making bigger capital commitments.”

“New robots are fast, flexible and more accurate. They are available with productivity enhancements and options, like vision, not found in older robots but there are plenty of applications where a second-hand robot will do the job just as well.”

Robotize Marketplace is open to both buyers and sellers, offering a “no sale, no fee” guarantee.
