Summit Matsu Chillers has recently won a chiller order from Australia’s number one spender on research and development – CSL Limited, the company responsible for flu vaccine Fluvax and cervical cancer vaccine Gardacil.
In a recent survey of the top 1000 global spenders on research and development last year just four Australian firms were present. These companies were CSL, BHP Billiton, ROC oil, and Aristocrat Leisure.
Other Australian companies just outside the top 1000 were Telstra, Cochlear, Onesteel, Orica, Computershare, Amcor, BlueScope Steel and Pacific Group while the top 10 companies worldwide included Pfizer, Ford, Johnson & Johnson, Daimler Chrysler, General Motors, Microsoft, GlaxoSmithKline, Siemens and IBM.
“It was satisfying to see this list” said Summit Matsu General Manager Daniel Rollston. “Out of all these companies we have current orders from both CSL and BHP – these are the number 1 and number 2 companies for R&D spending in Australia right now. We count most of the other Australian companies listed above as current customers, and earlier this year delivered a chiller to GlaxoSmithKline who are Europes number one drug maker.”
“It is great to keep getting orders from Number 1 companies” said Rollston. “They have very stringent quality demands and it keeps us performing at our best”
