Special awards for Australia’s top apprentices

Each year Australian Industry Group Training Services (AiGTS) recognises the achievements of its apprentices and trainees through various award programs.

These include programs such as TAFE, Community, Industry, Duke of Edinburgh, Today’s Skills – Tomorrow’s Leaders and World Skills.

Last year, AiGTS recognised and rewarded more than 20 apprentices and trainees who either won or became finalists in the various programs or awards.

From this group, an outstanding apprentice for the Northern, Southern and Western States is selected and presented with a certificate and cheque for $1000, at the various Ai Group State Council meetings.

The culmination of the AiGTS awards program was the presentation of the Chairman’s Award to the Outstanding Apprentice for 2009, Ty Borlace from SA.

AiGTS Chairman Doug Loveless presented Ty with a sterling silver medallion, certificate and cheque for $3000 at the Ai Group South Australian Council meeting earlier this year.

“These presentations provide an opportunity for apprentices and their host representatives to meet with members of the Ai Group State Councils,” National Group Training Manager, Dean Arundell said.
