Victorian based Miller Contractors has been using a MQ600TD 6” ‘muck’ pump from Australian Pump Industries to fast fill its 50,000L road tankers – with amazing results.
The big pump replaced smaller pumps as the company aimed to cut loading times dramatically.
And Miller spokesperson Jay Miller says loading time was “simply slashed.”
“We are loading our articulated 35,000L trucks in under six minutes,” he said.
The big pump operates at a flow rate of 6000L per minute and produces a maximum vertical discharge head of 46m. That’s 64.9 psi.
The pump design is common to the whole Aussie Pump trash pump range, featuring a large non-clog impeller as the heart of the system.
The impeller is capable of passing solids up to 76mm (3”) in diameter.
An easy clean out port mounted at the front of the machine enables the whole pump chamber to be cleaned of debris in minutes in case of a pump “choke”.
The pump will self-prime to a vertical lift of 7.6m, making it easy to load from dams, creeks or streams.
It is powered by a 60 HP Deutz air-cooled 4 cylinder diesel engine with electric start and built in safety shut down equipment.
The shut down device activates in the event of low oil pressure, high oil temperature, and/or vee belt failure.
Sealing for the pump is provided by an oil lubricated tungsten titanium carbide seal designed to handle even abrasive slurry type liquids.
A control panel is shock mounted in a water resistant housing and includes hour meter, ammeter, tachometer and alternator failure lights.
