Australian Pump Industries now offers lightweight submersible single phase pumps especially designed for general dewatering projects in building and construction.
The LB series Tsurumi Pump is manufactured in Japan at Tsurumi’s Kyoto plant, with a capacity to build up to one million units a year.
Tsurumi’s LB series was specifically designed for draining building and civil engineering sites.
The LB-480, weighing only 10kg, produces flows of up to 200L per minute, and maximum lifts, or vertical head of 10.5m.
The pump is powered by a single phase 0.48kW, capacitor start electric motor, and comes with 5m of heavy duty submersible cable.
“The LB series are loaded with features designed to give operators the best possible long life and low maintenance outcomes,” said Aussie Pumps’ Craig Bridgement.
“Many of these are quite unique to Tsurumi and are in line with their philosophy of a no-compromise design, to provide users minimal maintenance costs,” he said.
The pump’s motor is a dry type squirrel cage induction motor housed in a watertight casing.
It conforms to class E insulation and the LB-480 can be used in ambient temperatures of up to 40°C.
The motors feature an inbuilt thermal motor protection device that reacts to the heat generated by an over current or dry run conditions. This not only cuts off the motor circuit automatically, but also resets by itself. That means that when the motor cools down to a safe operating temperature, the motor automatically restarts.
Another important Tsurumi feature is an anti wicking block provided at the cable entry section of the motor chamber. Even if the cable jacket becomes damaged, or the tip of the cable is accidentally immersed in water, this device prevents water from travelling into the motor chamber through capillary action.
The pump’s outer casing is manufactured from powder coated steel, while the bottom casing is a tough synthetic rubber for any application.
