NMW a success despite tough economic times

More than 10,000 people attended National Manufacturing Week and Austech 2009 in Melbourne in May this year in this challenging economic climate.

Feedback from the majority of exhibitors throughout NMW and Austech was very positive, with many reporting several quality leads.

Despite a decline in visitor numbers from the previous year, the four-day shows attracted a high quality audience, with significant levels of decision-makers in attendance.

The category of Director/CEO/MD/GM/Owner made up 23.3 per cent of trade visitors.

The show also attracted a broad range of exhibitors with NMW boasting 295 and Austech 146.

Industry Update magazine was represented at the Show with a display stand and fielded numerous inquiries from visitors and clients.

Highlights of the show included the Ai Group’s Careers Advice Workshop, the SMCBA workshops and the WTIA Annual Awards as well as a dinner and numerous other seminars and networking functions.

The ‘Manufacturing Outlook’ panel discussions proved to be a popular addition to NMW.

Plans are firmly in place for an expanded program at NMW 2010.
