Belden has extended its Hirschmann product range with a 9-port version of its Octopus OS20 series.
The Hirschmann basic software is installed on this layer-2 switch, which meets the requirements of protection class IP67.
The new Fast Ethernet ports (10/100 BASE-TX) have vibration-resistant M12 connections in D-coding, a robust metal housing and an extended temperature range from -40° to +70°C.
The Octopus’s redundancy method and a redundant voltage supply guarantee high network availability. It also meets EMC and fire protection requirements for use in rail vehicles.
The switch is designed for wall mounting, can be quickly put into operation with plug and play.
“I can see increasing applications for IP67 switches, located in situations that may have airborne particles be they fluid or solid, indoor or outdoor, says Adam Callender, Outbound Marketing Director Asia-Pacific for Belden.
“Other challenging applications may have high vibration, such as trains, trams or buses, or tough conditions in mining and manufacturing.”
With the new Octopus OS20 series 9-port switch, Belden has added another variant to the Hirschmann IP67 switch family, which now includes more than 20 different devices.
