With the help of small wheelie bin compactors the waste volumes at Wahroonga’s SA Hospital have been substantially reduced on all floor levels.
A fleet of Orwak 80 series electro-hydraulic compactors for standard 240 litre bins have been introduced for the bagged uncontaminated medical waste resulting in a 75 per cent volume reduction for cleaning staff circulating the 12 storey building complex.
The 24-hour operation required single bin compactors to be fitted inside tiny utility compartments and larger twin bin compactor configurations adjacent to surgery wards.
In all, 16 Orwak presses have been employed running silently around the clock producing 1.5 tons of pressure evacuating air from the bagged bin waste.
Orwak 80 compactors are of modular design allowing multiple aluminium frames to be added for 2, 3 or 4-bin installation served by a single overhead sliding press pack running on standard 240v power.
Both top and front loading versions are available to best suit each dry waste application.
