For more than 33 years Sippel and Co Pty Ltd has custom-designed, built and provided hire services for Airskate™ Hovair™ and air flotation load movement systems, capable of moving very awkward or heavy loads from 100kg to 100 tonnes or more.
Earlier this year the Sippel Group’s Hovair Airskate equipment was successfully used to change the total direction by 90° of a production line of 10-stand Jacquard Weaving Line and its ancillary equipment.
Contracted to do the move in two weeks, Sippel completed the task with half a week to spare – minimizing production down time.
The client removed the mezzanine floor about 4m high, forming an access floor to the top business end of stands, where punched rolls (now computerised) programmed the waft and weave for the shuttles below.
It was critical that about 9000 vertical strings on each 10-tonne Jacquard module had to be kept intact and in place, relative to the weaving unit below.
Special joining bars and jacking poles were all pre-manufactured by Sippel to lift the splayed legs to place the Hovair Airskate units under each of the 10 stands’ four feet which were about 7m apart diagonally.
Sometimes a neighboring stationary Jacquard stand foot was raised clear of the floor by integrating the company’s GKS perfect jacks with jacking poles to miss the one being spun around.
Because of the tight space it was like virtually playing a game of drafts, with many more than just one move of each stand necessary to set it in its final position.
The end result was a complete change of Production Line direction by 90° for greater efficiency.
