Hi tech wastewater pump solution for power station

Engineers from the Eraring Power Station in NSW have chosen a Gorman-Rupp Ultra V series wastewater pump for one of their sumps to overcome continuing maintenance issues.

They wanted the pump to handle 75mm spherical solids while delivering 45m of head at the desired flow rate of 35L per second.

The Gorman-Rupp V4A60-B (Ultra V Series) is a self-priming centrifugal pump.

According to Australian distributors, Hydro Innovations, it is one of the most advanced wastewater pumps now available.

Being self-priming, the pumps can be positioned high and dry (up to 7.5m) above the wastewater, greatly minimising confined spaces issues.

Other features include:

  • A patented “self-cleaning” wear plate system to reduce blockages
  • A patented external shim-less adjustment system that allows operators to adjust internal clearances in less than 4min, allowing up to four times more wear than equivalent duty submersible or centrifugal pumps.
  • Easily removable cover-plate to allow access to pump internals in minutes to remove any blockages.

Ultra V Series pumps are available in three hydraulic sizes covering flows from 10L per sec through to 120L per sec, with heads of the single stage pump to 50m and heads of the two-stage version to 95m.
