Handling the toughest challenges

When it comes to lifting, Clark Equipment is a major force

Clark Equipment, an Australian owned and operated company, has been supplying and supporting equipment for more than 60 years. Today Clark Equipment is a BRW Top 500 Australian Private Company, with sales in excess of $200 million. The company has more than 20 branches throughout Australia and NZ and currently employs 500 people. The company is a great Australian success story …

Clark forklifts are a world leader in the manufacture and supply of forklift trucks.

After inventing the world’s first forklifts in 1917, and manufacturing its 1 millionth unit in
1997, Clark has been at the forefront of every major technological advancement in the forklift industry.

Today, the Clark range of forklift trucks is distributed in Australia and NZ by Clark Equipment.

It includes gas, diesel and electric forklifts ranging from 1.5 to 8 tonne capacities, and are engineered for indoor and outdoor use on semi-improved surfaces in manufacturing, warehousing, storage yards, lumber handling and other tough applications.

“Clark forklifts is an important brand to Clark Equipment,” said Robert Hammond,
Managing Director of Clark Equipment.

“Our history has been built on this brand – our company began as the Australian subsidiary of Clark Equipment in the US.

“In 1948, we began manufacturing Clark forklifts in Sydney – the first overseas manufacturer in Clark’s history.

“Although we no longer manufacture light trucks locally – devoting our manufacturing
capacity to large forklifts, container handlers, and other heavy materials handling equipment – Clark forklifts continues to represent an integral part of our business”.

While the history of Clark Equipment may have its roots in Clark Forklifts, its product lineup doesn’t end there.

Clark Equipment boasts a comprehensive range of materials handling and logistics
equipment, to suit businesses and applications of all sizes.

“The Clark range of forklifts reaches to 8 tonnes, but for heavier applications, such as
moving and stacking shipping containers, we have our Omega range of heavy forklifts,
container handlers and reach stackers,” said Mr Hammond.

Omega Heavy Trucks are designed and manufactured by Clark Equipment in Sydney, and are in operation in almost every port, transport yard and container-handling facility
in Australia and NZ.

Ranging from 16 to over 50 tonnes and with an array of attachments and mast options,
these heavy trucks are versatile enough to meet the requirements of almost any application.

Clark Equipment is also the national distributer for IPC commercial and industrial sweepers and scrubbers, Terberg Terminal Tractors, Noell Straddle Carriers, and Gottwald mobile harbour cranes. The breadth of this product range and the expert knowledge that comes with it shows just how much Clark Equipment understands this industry, and its business has grown and developed to offer the support required – be it
sales, parts, service or finance.

With over 20 locations across Australia and NZ, and parts and service dealers throughout Australia, Clark Equipment is able to bring its knowledge, experience and equipment to the market with a presence that is the envy of its competitors.

By operating from a network of companyowned branches, Clark Equipment is able to ensure better availability of parts and equipment across the country.

If a branch in one part of the country requires a machine or part that is not available
locally, it can be quickly and easily transferred from stock at another location.

It also means that if specialist knowledge is required – such as machine specifications,
troubleshooting or diagnostics support – there will be technical experts at head office and factory-trained mechanics in the field who can help.

Clark Equipment has also recognised the growing importance that financing solutions and flexibility plays in today’s economic environment by establishing its in-house
finance broking business, CEFIT (Clark Equipment Finance, Insurance and Training).

By drawing on the expertise Clark Equipment has with its equipment, and the understanding Clark has of its customer’s businesses, CEFIT is able to negotiate and structure a flexible finance package to suit the requirements of the customer.

And with a wide panel of lenders from Australia’s best financial institutions, it will
secure the best interest rates available.

The customers relationship with Clark Equipment does not end at the point of sale.

As mentioned previously, it has an outstanding aftermarket business, but Clark Equipment recognises that relationships must be maintained even beyond this.

When customers are looking to update or replace their machines Clark Equipment can
offer a very competitive trade-in value.

Due to the strength of its used-equipment business (visit www.usedequip.com.au to
search their range), and by taking most of its used equipment to market directly (instead of on-selling to a wholesaler or auction house) Clark Equipment is able to offer a better value than most.

While its origins lie in the materials handling industry, today Clark Equipment is a highly
diversified distributor of capital equipment.

It is the national distributor of a wide range of machinery and equipment including:

  • Bobcat skid-steer loaders
  • Compact excavators
  • Telescopic handlers
  • Tractors and utility vehicles
  • Doosan large excavators and wheel loaders
  • Doosan-Moxy articulated dump trucks
  • Ingersoll-Rand air compressors, generators and lighting equipment
  • Sakai compaction equipment
  • Terex pavers and
  • Daken tractor implements and farm machinery

This makes Clark Equipment a major player in the construction, infrastructure, agricultural and mining sectors of the economy, and the second largest distributor of equipment in Australia based on unit sales.
