Beau’s career on the crest of a wave

Beau Brown was named the 2009 Apprentice of the Year in the New England Region, and a finalist for the 2009 NSW Apprentice of the Year Award.

Beau completed an apprenticeship in Carpentry and Joinery – Carpentry Certificate III. While he was still in the first year of his apprenticeship, Beau identified additional training that would benefit him on his chosen career path and completed a Certificate IV in Building Supervision with Distinctions.

During his apprenticeship Beau received the Excellence in Training Award from TAFE NSW – New England Institute and a Building and Construction Industry Award.

Working for the rapidly developing National Buildplan Group, Beau was offered training, support and mentoring by several of his managers. Together they discussed his goals and ambitions, set key milestones, and evaluated his progress.

Beau’s natural leadership skills and determination to succeed have seen him quickly progressing within his chosen industry.

Since completing his apprenticeship, Beau has worked as the leading hand on a $30 million hospital upgrade in Lismore and as site manager at a luxury apartment development in Hervey Bay.

Beau is just about to move to the companies head office in Brisbane, where he will work in project management, one of his key career goals.

Beau is also halfway through a Bachelor of Construction Management, another major step in his career plan.

And between his work commitments and study load, Beau still finds time to surf whenever he is near a good beach.
