Advance Metal Products has joined forces with TAFE NSW South Western Sydney Institute to host a Certificate I in Engineering as part of the Australian Apprenticeship Access Program.
The 10-week training program, completed last April, included a combination of classroom theory and practical experience in various areas of manufacturing and production.
The course provided disadvantaged job seekers with pre-vocation training and tailored support to overcome their barriers to employment and help them obtain and successfully participate in an Australian Apprenticeship or Traineeship.
All participants received a Certificate I in Engineering with the possibility of being
selected to undertake an Apprenticeship or Traineeship with Advance Metal Products.
Participants ranged from school leavers to mature age.
The Australian Apprenticeship Access Program is an important initiative that makes participants job-ready for employment at Advance Metal Products or other organisations in the community.
Also, in June this year more than 50 Advance Metal employees enrolled in a Mature Age Apprenticeship Scheme.
When completed, the individuals will be rewarded with a national qualification and trade status.
The Mature Age Apprenticeship Scheme is an important program that formalises current skills, multi-skills our workforce and bridges skills gaps.
