VIEWING AND CONTROLLING WAREHOUSE SAFETY

04-04-2019

The growing complexity and dynamics of warehouse processes increase the potential for hazards. Jungheinrich is committed to the safety of staff, machines and warehouses, and has set itself the goal of reducing the number of accidents in intralogistics.

Assistance systems can help identify critical situations in advance and minimise the risk of accidents. With its zoneCONTROL and addedVIEW, Jungheinrich offers two systems that improve efficient operations and increase safety in warehouses.

The zoneCONTROL system consists of a stationary radio beacon and a mobile component on each truck including a module and display for operators. As well as providing warnings of trucks and people in congested areas, it is also possible to regulate traffic junctions so that when truck volumes are high, their maximum speeds are reduced.

The same radio beacon can also be connected to the control module of a hall gate so it opens when an authorised truck approaches but remains closed to unauthorised trucks. The driver of the truck receives a message on the assistance display of the truck, and the truck can also be automatically reduced to minimum speed. In addition, traffic lights or warning lights can be connected to the radio beacon to provide information to the surrounding area.

zoneCONTROL is highly scalable and can be flexibly adapted to the specific needs of any warehouse. It can also be used manufacturer-independently for existing trucks, and all functions can be covered with the same components. For the first time, this makes it possible to adapt it easily to changes in the warehouse or an expansion of the fleet.

zoneCONTROL does not require a central control unit, and there is no need to construct a separate server network. Each beacon can be configured easily and individually, providing specific and precise improvement of safety at critical intersections of the warehouse, without affecting efficiency.

addedVIEW is an all-round digital camera and display system, specifically suitable for counterbalanced trucks. The digital camera technology responds to difficult lighting conditions by dynamically adjusting the exposure settings. Excessively overexposed or underexposed images, for example when moving out of or into the warehouse, are avoided, and the driver always gets an accurate picture of the surroundings.

In addition, the images from the four individual cameras convert into a single image in real time so that drivers can see their trucks from a bird’s eye view, in particular, the fork tips and tail weight. With addedVIEW, drivers can navigate safely and quickly even in tight, congested situations.
