SMART SENSOR HAS THE ABILITY TO MONITOR MOTORS AND PUMPS

Control Logic has a novel cost-efficient condition monitoring solution for induction motors and pumps. ABB’s Ability smart sensors enable preventive maintenance by accurately monitoring and analysing motor operating data to warn against failures before they happen.

The Ability sensor comes with built-in Bluetooth 4.0 technology, and can easily be attached to any three-phase AC induction motor for quick configuration. The data from multiple smart sensors can be wirelessly collected using a smartphone app or an ABB gateway to securely upload data to the cloud.

Parameters such as vibration and temperature are measured, analysed and converted into meaningful information, with the results available from a customer portal or via the ABB Ability smart sensor smartphone app.

Simple ‘traffic light’ indicators give a quick overview of overall motor condition, and further information comes in the form of maintenance advice via alarms, alerts and reminders on how to optimise maintenance and save costs. Long-term data files are available in .csv format for further analysis.
