IO-LINK MASTER ENABLES MORE INTELLIGENT DATA COMMUNICATIONS

06-06-2018

The new Wenglor EP0L001 IO-Link master from Treotham is a multiprotocol module that enables consistent communication right on up to the field level. Each master module can connect up to eight IO-Link-compatible sensors to a single industrial Ethernet connection.

Intelligent field devices connected via the module can exchange real-time data with a system controller providing details on system status during the running process, and so can be dynamically adjusted to changing operating conditions. This permits continuous process optimisation, improves production quality and avoids system downtime.

The eight IO-Link-compatible freely configurable M12 ports offer maximum flexibility where module allocation is concerned, and reduce the costs of each channel to a minimum. Four of the eight ports are class B types, offering increased load current of up to 2A per port for actuators.

In the event that a terminal device should fail, electrical isolation ensures that module communication is not interrupted and that disturbances can be quickly rectified. There are also 12 digital inputs and eight digital outputs.

A further advantage of the IO-Link master is its ability to communicate with both Profinet and EtherNet/IP industrial Ethernet protocols (selectable by switch). The two switch ports permit connection via line or ring topology.

The extremely rugged and compact zinc die-cast housing is ideal for on-machine mounting in harsh industrial conditions with ingress protection to IP65, IP67 or IP69k. Operating temperature range is -20 to +70°C.
