INTELLIGENT DISPLACEMENT SENSOR COMES WITH IO-LINK

24-10-2019

New from Balluff, the BMP series intelligent displacement sensor uses IO-Link to deliver the absolute position signal for the stroke travel of a piston together with additional information about the sensor status and the current ambient conditions.

Data delivered includes the sensor temperature and the number of starts, and a warning can be issued when a user-configurable limit value is exceeded. An internal counter continuously monitors the operating hours over the entire life of the sensor, both since the last service and the last start-up. This makes it easier to plan for possible replacements during a regular scheduled service.

The integrated IO-Link interface also improves flexibility, for example making any format changes easier with its time-saving parameterisation functions.

The BMC series sensors use magnetic technology, and so are noncontact and wear-free. They continuously detect the absolute position of a piston, are compatible with virtually all cylinder types and are easy to install.

Ideal applications include those where the exact execution of a defined piston stroke is essential for process and product quality, for example in assembly, handling and factory automation.
