Omron reckons it is taking product inspection to another level with the release of its new FHV7 smart camera for advanced visual inspections on high-mix production lines.

The FHV7 features the world’s first multi-colour light and high-resolution image sensor – billed as the best in class. This unique technology is designed to achieve the industry’s highest standards of precision.

The unit offers maximum flexibility to fit a changing production scene. It is easy to integrate within an existing system and machine platform and can be combined with robots for picking and assembling applications.

The smart camera’s image processing circuitry provides industry-leading speeds, while the camera delivers industry-leading resolution for achieving higher precision in inspections and maintaining quality without slowing production down.

This means it can be used to provide complete traceability in production processes – including food and beverage – where quality control is paramount.

At the heart of the smart camera is the industry’s first 12Mpixel image sensor, coupled with a dual-core CPU capable of image processing at four times the speed of the previous generation device.

The autofocus lens covers a focal length between 59 and 2000mm, which enables great flexibility in where the camera can be mounted.

The ruggedly designed unit has a modular structure that allows lenses, filters and lighting to be changed for different applications. And the whole structure is IP67 rated, with an additional waterproof hood available for use in wet conditions.
