COMPACT PLC MOUNTS ON THE MACHINE FOR CABINET-FREE CONTROL

Turck has released a compact IP67 Codesys 3 PLC for controlling small or modular machines. Thanks to its robust housing and high degree of environmental protection, the TBEN-PLC can be mounted directly on the machine to enable control with no need for a cabinet. And the use of preassembled cordsets reduces the cabling effort and simplifies installation.
The PLC supports a wide variety of fieldbus communication protocols. When used as a master/scanner, the device supports Profinet, EtherNet/IP and Modbus TCP industrial Ethernet protocols, as well as Modbus RTU, CANopen and SAE J1939.
The TBEN-PLC can also be used as a remote I/O device for Profinet, EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP, Modbus RTU and CANopen networks, and so can be used as a protocol convertor or gateway. For example, the TBEN-PLC can function as a CANopen manager for a machine module and while connecting to a higher-level system communicating over Profinet. As a result it can be used to integrate existing machine controls into modern flexible production systems.
Two onboard serial ports can be used to integrate RS232/485 serial devices, and there are eight configurable I/O channels for the direct connection of sensors and actuators. When combined with Turck’s other IP67 rated fieldbus products, system builders can implement comprehensive machine control including safety technology without the need for a control cabinet.
