ABB ACS480 series

Available now from Control Logic, the ABB ACS480 series of compact variable speed drives is designed to optimise pump, fan and compressor operations. The new family of drives feature the same user interface, tools and options from ABB’s previous generation of devices, enabling easy migration.

Inbuilt functions are provided for optimising common variable-torque applications using PID control, pump and fan macros and timers. An inbuilt Class 2 EMC filter ensures compliance with the latest European and international standards allowing the drive to be used in both industrial and commercial environments.

The drives incorporate Bluetooth connectivity to enable configuration and monitoring of parameters using mobile devices. To protect both people and machinery, the drives come with key safety functions such as TÜV-certified safe-torque-off as standard.

All ACS480 drives come with a built-in energy optimiser that provides access to critical energy efficiency information, enabling users to reduce the amount of energy used in their processes. Full support for ABB’s highest efficiency synchronous reluctance motors provides even greater efficiency and savings over traditional motors.

Key light industrial application areas for the ABB ACS480 series include food and beverage manufacturing, logistics, warehousing, and water and wastewater.

Deep drilling rigs with top drive systems are used in the oil and gas industry. To guide cables in these systems, manufacturers and operators have so far been using so-called ‘service loops’. However, these often create problems: the cables have no guidance or defined bend radius, and can slip into... Read More
