CeMAT Australia 2022 conference program announced

02-06-2022

Returning to Melbourne in 2022, CeMAT AUSTRALIA is back and set to encourage supply chain resilience at a time when it is most needed.

Taking place 19-21 July 2022 at the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre, CeMAT AUSTRALIA 2022 is a three-day program brimming with a diverse mix of keynotes, panel discussions, case studies, demonstrations and more.

Designed for professionals with an interest in warehousing, manufacturing, materials handling, intralogistics and supply chain management, the event is a must at a time when the call for a supply chain that is connected, reliable and ethical gets louder.

World-leading Keynote

Heading up the conference program this year will be keynote speaker Peter Williams, Chief Edge Officer, Centre for the Edge at Deloitte Australia.

Peter’s long list of achievements includes co-founding of packaging company, Packform.io and being the recipient of the 2020 Deloitte Social Impact Award in recognition of his work on Community Led Recovery during the Black Summer fires of 2019-20.

Peter will open the CeMAT 2022 conference addressing Rethinking, Reinforcing and Reconnecting the Supply Chain – An Innovator’s Perspective.

“For decades efficiency has been the focus for the Supply Chain. The pandemic and its flow on effects, combined with a volatile geopolitical environment, has upended ‘business as usual’. Organisations now have no choice but to rethink the Supply Chain,” says Peter.

His keynote – part inspirational, part call to action – will address what is driving everything from warehousing to fulfillment, from technology and equipment investment to partnership and employment policies.

“Societal and policy issues are also at the forefront, with the demand for greater focus on climate, waste, emissions and ethical practices,” adds Peter.

“At the same time, we have seen that organisations and individuals have been able to meet challenges using digital and other technologies, surfacing the innovation capability that was always there but suppressed. The shift to online commerce, separating work and place, both working and accessing talent from anywhere and building new networks with a focus on flexibility has been breathtaking.”

Hard questions and hot topics

Some of the hot topics that will be covered during the conference by other speakers include the market trends driving retail change and how the supply chain can adapt to meet them; modern day slavery; greenifying the supply chain; and warehouse safety in the age of autonomous vehicles.

There will also be case studies on fulfilment centres by Marley Spoon; the invention of an inventory robot by DHL; and enhanced technology in warehouse design by a major Australian supermarket.

The innovators, pioneers and eCommerce success stories who will take to the CeMAT stage include OzHarvest Australia (charity partner); MyDeal and Women in Supply Chain.

Among the panel discussions will be a conversation on shipping by female industry leaders led by Jacqui McCombie, MD at Globelink International.
