BOOST IOT SECURITY WITH EDGE GATEWAY

Monnit Corporation has released their new ALTA Advanced Edge Gateway, available now from Metromatics.

The new Edge Gateway makes deployments more agile and productive. By coupling the prominent MQTTS protocol and the IoT’s broadest sensor range, the Edge aggregates data from feature-rich Monnit wireless sensors to any cloud provider, such as Amazon AWS.

The Edge Gateway helps businesses cope with the billions of data points found in the ever-expanding Internet of Things by decentralising data processing. Firms will benefit from spontaneous analytics, instant action based on metrics, and support for enhanced situation-based applications.

As the Ethernet-based Gateway receives sensor data, it “fingerprints” that data with a cryptographic validation stamp. This authenticated data is transmitted to a cloud broker (or multiple brokers, ensuring operational reliability in the event of server failure) in a standard format.

The Edge’s integrated macros enable data configuration in virtually any format, such as JSON or XML, which makes it a powerful tool for data analysis and action.

The ALTA Edge Gateway features a web interface for configuration and management of the Monnit wireless sensors; one Gateway can accommodate up to 100 sensors.

The Edge also enjoys the robust processing of a Linux UBUNTU single-board computer with a 32-bit ARM.
