The 1950’s brought increasing demand for an array of new components and technology. Significant was the immediate need for bearings of all types and the know-how to ensure their optimum application.
J. J. Martin-Weber, observing the lack of available supply and service facilities to meet this demand, formed Consolidated Bearing Company in 1954. His aim was to offer complete bearing coverage to every corner of Australian industry. And he did just that.
To industrial sites and factory floors throughout Australia came the finest names in bearings. CBC gained sole distributorship of INA Needle Bearings and Rothe Erde Slewing Rings, both of Germany, NTN Bearing Corporation of Japan and many more. As Managing Director from the mid 1960’s, Ron Martin-Weber continued the task commenced by his father, J. J. Martin-Weber, adding to the portfolio of international manufacturers and creating a supply and service network covering Australia from coast to coast.
Now in its third generation, Mitchel Martin-Weber now continues this remarkable family journey.
Today, CBC responds to the bearing requirements of Australian industry with the nation’s largest bearing inventory and distribution network, with over 600 staff in more than 60 branches. To meet the complex demands of mining and heavy industries, CBC has a team of internationally trained and experienced, highly specialised, technical personnel. 1997 saw the introduction of power transmission to the stable of product and solutions offerings and take on board a complete team of power transmission specialists.
Clearly CBC’s commitment to provide the customer with the highest quality service, is central to our business. Our determination to succeed is articulated in our Corporate Mission Statement:
