4 April 2007: At National Manufacturing Week 2007, Australia’s leading drive solution group, SEW-Eurodrive, will exhibit the results of a quarter century of involvement in the Australian manufacturing scene. Celebrating 25 years in Australia in 2007, the company has become a trusted and proven partner to the broadest spectrum of Australian manufacturers and OEMs.

The company will exhibit elements of its expansive and innovative electronic and electro-mechancial solution set, including two important additions: the MOVIGEAR mechatronic system, and the MOVIFIT decentralsied drive system.

“The past 25 years have been both inspiring and productive,” said SEW-Eurodrive Australia’s managing director, Robert Merola. “We’ve worked closely with Australian manufacturers and OEMs to evolve a leading solution set, coupled with a comprehensive drive engineering and service support system--a total drive service that is simply unrivalled in this country. What you will see on display at our stand at National Manufacturing Week are the fruits of these efforts--a quarter century of excellence from SEW-Eurodrive Australia.”

Featured at this year’s exhibition will be the official unveiling of SEW-Eurodrive’s latest mechatronic drive system, MOVIGEAR. Representing the future of materials handling technology, MOVIGEAR is a fully integrated drive solution, comprising gear unit, motor and electronics. The latest development in SEW-Eurodrive’s decentralised drive systems, MOVIGEAR’s compact design enables straightforward installation in new and existing applications.

Also to be launched at the Melbourne exhibition is the company’s new decentralised drive system, MOVIFIT. Tailored for field installation, MOVIFIT provides the flexibility, scalability and powerful connectivity required to support Australia’s advanced materials handling applications. Coupled with its onboard I/O, distributed power and fieldbus communications, MOVIFIT supports the wide variety of decentralised topolgies and materials handling applications.

Both MOVIFIT and MOVIGEAR solutions are available in either IP65 ingress protection rating, or optional self-draining IP69K aseptic design.

Also on display will be SEW-Eurodrive’s innovative PLC/motion controller hybrid--the MOVI-PLC. Specifically designed to support members of the unique SEW-Eurodrive frequency inverter solution set, the MOVI-PLC product family combines both conventional PLC control and ’motion control’ into a single compact platform. MOVIPLC control code can be developed in any one of five supported languages: sequential function chart, instruction list, ladder logic, function block diagram and structured text--all compliant with the IEC-61131-3 and PLCopen standards. As a result, MOVIPLC provides the manufacturing sector with high levels of development flexibility, efficiency and total system cost-savings.

The MOVI-PLC suite reflects the flexibility and scalability that is globally recognised as the hallmark of the entire SEW-Eurodrive offering. A completely integrated and proven drive system, MOVI-PLC can simply be incorporated into the expansion slot of either the SEW-Eurodrive MOVIDRIVE ‘B’ or MOVITRAC ‘B’ inverters, empowering either drive to address higher-end manufacturing applications.

Accompanying the MOVI-PLC, will be SEW-Eurodrive’s renowned MOVIDRIVE ‘B’ application inverter. This advanced unit offers Australian manufacturers and OEMs an application inverter of optimal versatility, processing power and cost-efficiency, and is available in large power capacities. This single unit supports the broad spectrum of inverter applications typically found across the Australian manufacturing sector: ranging from standard variable speed drive requirements and all the way up to sophisticated servo positioning, synchronising and electronic cam applications.

The company’s locally-assembled CM series permanent-magnet servo motors will also be on show at the SEW-Eurodrive stand. Offering a large torque range, the CM servo motors exhibit the accuracy and precision found across the entire SEW-Eurodrive suite of drive solutions--an attribute that makes them ideal for a wide range of applications. Providing premium torque-to-weight ratios and positioning accuracy, the SEW-Eurodrive CM servo plus gearbox, coupled with a SEW-Eurodrive application inverter, provides the complete end-to-end servo solution for almost any application.
