How to cut time and infrastructure when cleaning large steel surfaces

From Smets Technology, Berlin comes the Magnetic Crawler for crawling across large steel areas to clean scale, old paintwork and dirt. The cost of scaffolding and manual labour and time occupied for cleaning either the exterior or interior of large vessels such as precipitator, liquid or other storage tanks and ship hulls can be prohibitive. The Smets Crawler, equipped with permanent magnet assemblies that ride just above the steel surface to provide 10,000 Newtons of holding force, greatly reduces time and cost. The machine crawls across the surface either horizontally or vertically with the cleaning apparatus mounted to it and can be controlled from the ground. The Smets Crawler is available in Australia and the Pacific region from Serpent & Dove – Applied Magnetics. See http://www.serpentdove.com.au/articles/Safety_Clean_up_electromagnets/16
